16th International Workshop on HIV Observational Workshops
(IWHOD)
The International Workshop on HIV Observational Databases
(IWHOD), organised by EuroCoord,
took place in March 2012 in Athens and was attended by 190
delegates at this closed meeting representing a total of 67
cohorts or collaborations.
The main areas of interest for the 2012 workshop was HIV and
co-morbidities and the programme included plenary sessions on:
Hepatitis and other co-infection - the value of observational
cohort studies for hepatitis C research; Treatment as Prevention -
The use of cohorts in HIV transmission research and Model
projections of the impact of ART on HIV incidence; Data quality and
outcome ascertainment - Data quality in cohort collaborations:
should we let sleeping dogs lie? Additional oral sessions were on
methodology; co-morbidities and long-term outcome; HIV in resource
limited settings; Adherence, resistance and virologic and
immunologic response to therapy; and discussion of Paediatrics and
HIV in Pregnancy posters.
There were a total of 122 abstracts presented, and the Best
Poster Award went to Debbie Ford for her poster presented on behalf
of the DART (Development of AntiRetroviral Therapy in Africa) Trial
Cohort.
The 17th IWHOD will be held in Cavtat, Croatia from Thursday 11
to Saturday 13 April 2013.
